Christian Music Festival

The First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn

600 Brady St., Dearborn, MI. 48124

SonSounds 2006 is a free, indoor & outdoor, intergenerational Christian music festival, open to the general public. It will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 4-9 PM. The huge “Showmobile” lighted stage (14 x 36 feet) filled with professional sound equipment and tended by two sound technicians, will host up to 6 bands or more from Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois. Located on the grounds of The First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn (S-W Michigan), as well as within the magnificent Sanctuary, the free festival will boast full-course chicken dinners ($5) as well as festival type snacks ($1-$4) that kids and adults of all ages will enjoy. Three inflatable bouncers ($3 armband good from 4-8 PM) will be located within sight and sound of the big stage. Free arts and crafts for the kids will be offered from 4-7 PM. The congregation and local businesses will cover the cost of the event and all proceeds raised (donations, food and bouncer proceeds) this year will go to ChristNet, an organization that houses, feeds, clothes, and offers job counseling to the homeless (individuals and families) of S-W Michigan.

This will be the fourth year of the event and it has grown in attendance each year. Last year we had over 350 individuals spend the afternoon and evening enjoying this intergenerational event that offers something for everyone. Since over 50 area churches are typically involved in ChristNet during the year, we expect attendance to expand considerably this year.

Rock, folk, and praise and worship music will round out the outdoor program with our own school district’s Honors Choir and VBS dramatic arts group adding something new for this year. Rachanee (folk), The New Harvest Praise Band (Worship and Praise), Jayson (acoustic), The Crossing (Celtic band from Jesus People-USA, Chicago), as well as a couple of local favorites will perform. Indoors, our Sanctuary loft will thunder with the great hymns of the past 400 years as the audience sits up with the organist while participating in the hymn fest first hand. We hope that you and your families can come and be a part of this fun-filled afternoon.

We have asked the musical groups to donate their performances so that all proceeds raised can be sent to ChristNet to continue to serve the homeless of S-W Michigan. We will provide each band member with 2 dinner vouchers as a thank-you for being a part of SonSounds, as well as a table to sell CDs and band merchandise. You can contact Mike Hoffman, Chair of SonSounds, with any additional questions, at hoffmal@mail.resa.net or at home at 313-562-5961.
